This post probably needs to be hoisted into the technical section, however there is a useful exchange on the subject of wet footwells on the Australian Land Rover Owners site:

Wet footwells, oh too familiar with them. I bring a hand bilge pump with me now. I siliconed the doors, but water still gets in when i get stuck.

I do on my boat. I figured it was a bit of overkill in the truck though. Plus im really bad at wiring, well for an engineering intern anyways. It too my a year to properly wire in my winch to the solenoid and get the switch in the cabin.

Joey,

Register: it isn't rocket science!

Rick and Dean,

The Defender Td5 has the computer under the driver's seat and there is a thread in another place that talks about a bilge pump. This IS approaching rocket science.

The link is: http://www.lrenthusiastforum.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB4&Number= 205064&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0&fpart=

LOL.
I think i am also going to put my ecu in some tupperware like Dean and seal it. I also surrounded my cabin with silicone. Door seals, srain holes, plugs in the firewall, and some random places underneath too. I must have missed something, but it does not come in that fast anymore. The floater switch on electric bilge pumps is too high anyways so i wold have to be inthe truck to turn it on and off when the water was gone. And since i would have to be inthe car anyways, i might as well use the hand pump. I think Reter Blatt, if anyone, needs the automatic bilge pump. Maybe ill get one of those hovercraft kits and take that next time.

I went and bought a mobile home bilge pump of sorts, I have yet to install it, it will be manually operated, But is 12v and will pump i believe 5 gpm, I hope that i will never get to use it!
Peter. Rick, Have you checked the breather holes in the bottom of the doors? they will let water out when it rains, and in when it floods, some small corks may be needed for deep wading, or some duct tape, just remember to remove after swimming.

Pontoons on the sliders, hooked up to a big CO2 tank. Hmmm soinds like a good idea. I like the monter garage when jesse james converts a school bus to a party boat. Seems like a pain when the crossing is only 30' long.

No sweat Joey,

I know the sensation and often wonder at the pointless barricades put in the way of quick progress.

Rick,

Who's gonna be pumping when you are out of the vehicle wrestling with the winch or straps?

Happy to! I was thinking of making the electric pump portable, but then again of all people YOU should have a permanent setup too!:-)

Im still savin up for tires, I am going to need something for my christmas list, the pump will probably be it. Oh and back to the topic of this thread. The snorkel works great at keeping water out of the engine. just be sure to fully silicone the entire installation.

You can't seal the air box. Where the two halves mate together the air can get in and run all round the soft foam seal of the filter, which may or may not be seated nicely to the bottom of the box.

I have got it. You weld the doors tight. Silicone all the windows. But you leave an opening in the roof and you use that to get in and out of your vehicle. If you have a ladder on the back it would be no problem except maybe in a parking garage.
