These tires rated very highly in the tire rack survey, the Revo's as all terrain and the Destination as a mud tire. I like the idea of a M/T tire, but does anyone have an opinion on what is the better choice all around? I need something good in snow, rain, reasonably smooth and quiet on the highway, etc. Thanks.

I have the Revo and love them, I have only had them for less then a year but so far so good. My father liked them so much on my car he just put them on his Wrangler.

Thanks for the reply. How are the Revos offroad? I assume they are infinitely better than the Goddyear HP.

I have Destination MT's. They are great for traction and have a super thick sidewall.

But...........

THEY SUCK!!!!!!!!

When you air down, you will break lugs off the tires. I have at least one-two lugs missing from every tire. If you go with a mud tire do NOT get these. I can post pics if desired. If you are going to get a M/T get Goodyear MTR's or BFGs.

HP's suck. they should only be used as tire swings. even at that only let your neighbors kids on them as they may wear poorly and cause them to fall off.
we have been using the Destinations here on vehicles that come into the shop. so far no complaints. using mostly Duelers though.

Kai - How can airing down tires cause the lugs to break? Unless your lug nuts are loose.

I was looking into the same tires, and went with the Revo's only due to the fact that 90% of my driving will be on the road. I just plan to make sure that I have good recovery gear when I go off road and make sure that I travel with someone who has a winch.....

Of course in WV's Red Clay I don't think it matter much what type of tire you run, you will get stuck sooner or later.

In general, what is a decent M/T in snow? I have heard that they aren't great, which is a good reason to go with the Revo's, at least in upstate New York.

When I talked to my local Tire Dealer, he suggested that I stay away from any M/T tire for snow. When I ask why, he said with 30 years experince in the tire industry, he has never had good luck with an M/T in snow.

He suggested that I go with either an A/T or a Snow only tire.

Since I wanted the Revo's he ordered them for me. So far, no snow yet, but they handle and drive great in all other conditions.

Revos - good in rain and snow but they suck in the mud.

I currently have the Destination MT's and had the Dueler Revo's before. They both suck. The Dueler is a good road tire, but that is it. It is horrible off road. The Destination does well off road, but has some serious quality issues. I loose large pieces of tread on each trip I take. They are very brittle. I have been to several Firestone dealers to complain, and have been shown the door each time. There is a different excuse each time for the problem. I currently have 0 tread lugs remaining on the outside of all 4 tires.

Please do not buy these tires!

No, no, no, the dueler revo's don't always suck.......just in the mud. Otherwise, they are an excellent tire. I can't speak for the Destination MT's. Chad obvisouly has had a horrible experience moreso with the Destination than the Revo's. Get the Revo's. You'll be happy. You might want to check, when I bought my revo's they had a deal where they would let you test them out for 30 days or so - no obligation. Check into it.

Kelly,
You are correct that my experience with the MT's was horrible, but so was my experience with several Firestone dealers. The Revo's are a good road tire. They suck in anything loose...mud, clay, gravel, snow, etc... If you spend the vast majority of your time on the road, then you may be happy with the tire. They are good in the rain as well. All Firestone dealers in my area offer the 30 day test drive. That is how I ended up with the MT's. I drove the Revo's for a month and switched. I am not trying to call anyone a liar or discount anyone's opinion...I have had a horrible experience with these tires and this company and am just trying to keep anyone else from having a similar experience.

I am going to get the Yokohama Geolander AT + II. Did some research and talked to folks who have them, and no complaints. Anybody running these?

I love my Dunlop Radial Rover R/T's. and they are GREAT in the snow. Siped from the factory and they have quite a bit of bite for a tire that is not a dedicated snow. I ALWAYS have run dedicated winter snow tires but with the R/T's I have just kept them on. THey are good enough I dotn feel the need to switch.
Oh yea, they are decent in the dry but have some tread squirm when cornering, thats made up for by the traction in the dirt though. And in the mud they aren't to Bad. Not great but better than most AT Tires.

I just switched over to a set of Bridgestone Dueler A/T's as most of my driving is on pavement now-a-days, and so far I like them. They are very quiet and ride very smooth. They seem to have a very decent amount of traction design and clear debris from the lugs reasonably well. I haven't taken them on any thing serious off road, but just observed how they did on basic dirt, grass and mud around the camp area at SAE.

Not a bad tire at all if you plan to spend more time on pavement.

A couple of shots of the Bridgestone Dueler A/T on my truck at SAE:

As you can see, they are not an extremely aggressive tread, but they are a very nice riding tire. I put 1,500 miles on them and am very pleased. Traction is reasonable for an A/T tire. Road noise is non-existent.
