i have a 97 disco and looked on here to adjust my kick down cable. well all the boards i found adjust the throttle are to high. seems they are for older disco. what rpms are you guys running in the last gear around 60 mph in a auto. not a standard transmission. (duh kick down cable would be an auto i know)and does anyone have the correct way to set the kickdown in a 97

I'm running 1800-2000 rpms. It has been awhile since I have done mine, so if I get some of this mixed up disco'ers help me out.

If you are standing on the drivers side looking in the engine bay, you will see two cables going to the throttle body. One is for the gas peddle the other is the kick down for the transmission. The one with a finger screw is the gas peddle. The other requires a wrench to losen the set nut. You have to adjust it to where you like it. Mine had so much slack it would not kick down at all. I had to use the shifter to pass. I would not tighten the set screw untill I test drove it. It took me two or three time to get it where I wanted it.

For some reason I got about 1/2 mpg better gas milage once I got it set. I can get out the manual tonight if you still need help and post tomorrow.

danno i have already tried this diagrams directions and i didn't turn the wrong cable. its the last step that you tighten the throttle cable to get the tinny gap in the kickdown i have to adjust the throttle way to far to get the gap and the rpms sky rocket on start up. i have seen other comments on the search that other people withs 97's have the same problem with this set up.
