I'm going from stock to 235/85 mtr's and am wondering exactly how much of a change in acceleration I will experience. I have stock gears and I am hoping to get by with them. I'm wondering if anyone has this sort of setup with stock gears and can tell me their thoughts. Also, what are air lockers? Thanks guys. Btw, anyone here from louisville Ky? I'm looking for places to go roading. Okay, I'm finished for now... |

i have a 94 disco i have retarded the spark to add low end torque and allow me to run 87octane fuel. 235/85/16's are really no problem for the truck to pull at all. but I have driven 96 and later disco's with the 4.0 distributerless engine and the change is much more apparent, but still very drivable. ARB air-lockers are air actuated locking axle differentials. they replace the factory "open" diffs. MM |

I have a 97 with the same tire size & electronic ignition and there's a noticable difference, especially at highway speeds - it can't keep speed going up a slight incline. I'm about to install airlockers and I'm going to install 4.10 ring & pinions at the same time. It's reported to get your power back around where it should be with those big tires. Air lockers are locking differential units that replace your stock non-locking diffs. |
