I've looked in the archives and can't seem to find the old discussions on this, but has anyone found an affordable way to ship these?

I've checked with UPS, FEDEX, Airborne and Greyhound and they all have limits on the overall size that would proclude a roof rack.

Dimensions are roughly 95"Lx60"Wx18"H unwrapped. I'm guessing weight to be around 60 to 75 lbs.

Thanks,
Greg

Greg, I was looking at a rack made overseas awhile back (Decided against it) anyway, they shipped via Airplane (check local airline or cargo shipper) and I would have had to pick it up at the airport. You could probably also check with Railways, they may offer something affordable. As well as a lot of OTR (Over The Road) shippers like http://www.upack.com/default.asp?refnum=abffront
Not sure if this will work, but you can also contact them at http://www.abfs.com/Default.asp?bhcp=1 They may work with you. (Drop Shippers)

Thanks. I'm trying to find a way to help people interested in my roof rack get it shipped.

Try Fedex Freight at 1(800) 845-4647 and ask for pricing for delivery to local freight dist. office rather than door-to-door. I've been quoted about $200 for roof rack delivery from east coast to Fontana, CA freight dist. office. That included a supposed 40% courtesy discount that they automatically gave me.

I paid $200 to have mine shipped from Rover Connection (Salt Lake City, UT) to Clearwater, FL.

Shipping costs were significantly less if delivery was made to a business rather than a residence. So, I had it shipped to my dealership. I'm not sure what shipping company was used. I do know that it traveled in a truck.

I have heard that several companies are willing to take things on a "stand by" basis for significantly less. Like, if they happen to have an empty or partially full truck going your way on their return route, better for them to make a little money rather than none.

Good Luck! Jamie
