Yesterday, Peter and myself we in the Pine Barrens, driving though the middle of Wharton State Park. Both of us saw about 30 yards in front of us a fast-moving animal of some kind run across the trail, and no kidding it had to be doing 30 mph. We only saw it for a second, and it appeared to be running flat (like a cheater), not jumping up and down like a deer. Peter thinks it was brown in color, but it looked black to me (Puma?). No way was it a deer though. It seemed difficult to imagine how ANY animal could run that fast through the thickness of the forrest there. Anyone else seen / heard of this? Are there large wild cats here in Jersey? |

Yes. Jersey still has a few big cats running around in the woods. Add to that that there are a few big cat "compounds" in the southern part of the state that every once in a while, lose one or 2. Communities get put on alert and is usally good for a weeks worth of news stories as they track them down. Chris von C |

More strange doin's in the Pine Barrens, eh? I love those programs about the Jersey Devil. Don't know what's worse, Jersey Devils or hungry loose big cats..... Karen |

And the forest chicks... Ron, I saw the top of the truck and could think who it could have been until I saw all the stickers. The big one on the door threw me off. No prob on the late wave. I am lucky I could see that far across the lanes to pick out a Disco. Chris von C |

no way man. that whole trip to NC put the fear of god in me. i was not even sleeping very well. i mean if you would have seen little bubba and his family you would know what i was talking about. and the Boganels place was a nightmare. i could imagine the employment forms there......1. must mumble (check) 2. must have knowledge of fried meat products (check) 3. must find you sister "hot" (check) 4. numbers make you confused. i mean it was bad there (bojangels). not just kinda......really. entertaining though. |

Man, you don't even have to go that far south to get to a whole other country. Coming back up from Assateague we stopped in a McDonald's in Delaware. All I have to say is, there is a reason why they call it Slower Lower Delaware. Might as well just make two seperate states out of it. |
