I'm a proud new owner of a used '03 S model Disco. Question: Was a CDL offered as an option or what? I thought it was standared some older models, but what's the story on the newer models. I have sean some tech posts regarding adding CDL capability on non-equipt models. Is the truck "half way there", just waiting for an extra shifter and/or solenoid? What are my options? p.s. CDL was standard on the D1 (1994-99). Early D2s had a nipple on the transfer case that permitted the installation of a CDL device. I think starting around '02 the nipple was removed. I get a kick out of the owner's manual where LR talks about driving off-road. In almost every scenario, the manual talks about engaging the diff lock (if it is available). Options for getting a CDL: 1) Replace the transfer case; 2) Wait for an aftermarket upgrade kit to be made available for non-nippled Discos. I have an '03 Disco myself and have been waiting for an upgrade kit to be made available. Either that or I'm going to start scouring parts places for an '04 transfer case soon.
