Can I leave power tank hose and the tire inflator on the power tank all the time? It sure would be easier if I could. I have a difficult time attaching it to the regulator while it is upright in the bracket. I have no problem if I attach it while the tank is on it's side in the grass - but moving tank in and out of cargo area is a pia. I'd sure like to just leave them on at all times. I know that I would have to secure the cord and inflator and also keep them covered/protected from dust and stuff. Is it ok to do that? (I have gotten in the habit of standing safely to the side of my truck and reaching around into the cargo cubby area when I turn on first valve). Any other precautions that I don't know about if I just leave the tank in there all the time?? Thanks in advance, Jamie |

Don't see why not, but I would release the pressure in the hose when it is not in use, though. - Axel

Jamie- STOP! FREEZE! You must answer me these questions three, ere the light ye see. 1) If you shut off the regulator, what effect does this have on the hose and inflator? 2) What is so sensitive on the hose and inflator that would be affected negatively by dust? 3) What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow? |

European Swallow, because African Swallows are non-migratory

I've never seen a European swallow, that's why I moved to California. I leave my hose on at all times, you never know when you might need it. I do however relieve pressure from time to time. SC |

Cool, thanks. It is my desire to prolong the useful life of the hose and inflator. Yes, I do believe in keeping equipment clean and protected -we an abundance of sand here. Also, I HAVE to store my stuff in a way that I won't break it, because if it can be broken, I'm gonna do it for sure in the dumbest way possible. A recent example was the demise of my spare air filter (no, I don't carry that regularly - just when conditions are favorable for having to change filters midflight). On that day, I had set it neatly in the cargo area in it's factory white box. Later in the day, I was standing in my cargo area trying to find something, couldn't find what I was looking for - so I started throwing everything out the cargo door. Finally found what I was looking for and jumped out of my truck. Guess where I landed? I did a good job of smashing filter with me boot. I found a box that it will fit in for the future, but I have to cut some of the plastic out to make it fit. Maybe no one else does the same dumb stuff I do. I don't plan to jump on my cord and inflator though. I was wondering how fragile it was if it gets hit by other gear, etc. Koby, everytime I see your name, I try to say it to see how it goes. Does it sound similar to kawasaki? |

I was out on Steel Bender today and my buddy goes to air up. No pressure in his powertank. Regulator gone bad. He has it mounted in a open Jeep, no cover. It developed a small leak sometime this week. The tank was refilled Saturday. So, while the parts are all well made stuff will always happen. Well, at least he didn't jump on it |

Jamie, you can stand in your cargo area? What are you, like 4 feet tall?

Jamie- If you want to protect your equipment, then you must deal with the inconvenience of removing it from wherever you store it. Kahbahzahkee does indeed rhyme with Kawasaki. |

Oh behave Mr. K., I just soiled myself. While I do leave my hose attached for rapid deployment, I also try to keep it well protected. I shudder to think what would happen if the microwave fell on even the tip of my inflator. As for stepping on it, I don't think that's an issue. SC |

Andy, no I am not 4 feet tall. Usually I drive my truck nose down in the gully between my house and neighbors so that cargo opening is close to ground level. When I don't do that and have to climb in my truck, so I just try to work around without having to get in and out. Hey, I can go under the guard dog real fast now! I have perfected standing in the backseat area and I can totally put down rear seats without getting out, then I climb under the dog guard. I suppose I lean over a bit while I am walking around in there - but, as I said, it makes work easier if I just stay in there until I'm done. You should try it, I think you could almost stand in there too, it IS higher than it looks. When I figured out how to do that, I was like - I wish I had thought of this earlier! |

No, Jamie, as you'll see this winter, I'm 6'2" and waaaaay too big to be walking around in there. I slept in the back one night in the mountains of Colorado and it was a bit too closed-in for me -- but then again, the back was full of stuff and there was an antsy border collie (and my grumpy brother) also trying to get out in the morning! I do appreciate the interior dimensions of the truck, though -- it was one of the reasons I bought the damn thing! Andy |

"Albatros!" --- Jamie - its perfectly all right to leave it there. I havent removed hoose from my CO2 tank for nearly entire summer, after i experimented and realized its pointless, and its wasting pressure. Dont see any issues on hoose or assembly. In fact its better that way also b/c you putting less wear&tear on connector, hence reducing possibility of leak. |

Thanks for the input. Sure sounds like some of you guys are easier on equipment than I am. For sure, if something can be spilled, broken, or lost -- I'm probably gonna do it. Oh well, at least I am aware of it and can factor that in Andy, I sure wish your dog could come to Florida too - both of mine would think it was their lucky day and the sky had started raining bones. Wouldn't it be great if airlines would allow purchase of tickets for dogs to sit in seats with the rest of the family?? No way I could do the cargo area cage thing! We'd sure corner the market on all the collie/sheepdog color combinations! |

I was trying to find a way to drive down there, but I just don't have the time (3 days down, 3 days back, and I only have 8 days) to justify 4000 miles on the truck. Yeah, like we talked about before, there's gotta be a way to get pets down there without being crated in the cargo hold...so BJ stays with "Grandpa and Grandma" in Michigan for a week! That said, I'm counting on you to ensure that it's warm when I'm there, and we'd better go for a ride in the Catfish! Andy

Andy! I just realized that I already have a name for my rover!! ROVER PUPPY!! I had never even considered my "anonomyous" screen name for a name for my truck. Rover Puppy fits us very well!! I tried looking at front for "catfish" similarity, but I did not see it. Where or what are the whiskers?? |

Jamie, it's more like a warthog than a catfish (curved whiskers rather than straight). Please say "hi" to Bill and Rachael when you see 'em. Really nice folks, and Bill's the world's best teacher. Ray |

Oh, the hooks... I never thought of that! John Lee's recovery hook solution arrived Fed Ex today. Think I'll wait for Bill's arrival to put them on. Maybe I'll leave all 4 hooks on? I'd be stylin' then! Wonder if I could then be a rinosauraus? I'm excited to meet Bill, have spent much time on the phone with him in the last 6 months. Rachel was down a few months ago, she is really neat - we had a cool time (in the heat!) hanging out at the pier all afternoon. Looking forward to their extended visit. Every once in a while I entertain the thought of trying to follow them back to Colorado. Sounds like a good idea until I think about how long I would have to stay in the west waiting for warmer weather to be outside all the time and go for good off roading. We complain about the heat here, but I am a sissy in cold weather - at least down here - when it does get cold, it is a very damp cold - chills you way to the bones. |
