I while back I saw a metal replacement radiator plug for Discos, but I don't remember what website I saw it on, does anyone know. Thanks

Anyone have any problems with that solution? Any dangers? Just curious... makes me think.

I think you can get these at plmbing supplies also.
bought mine here in Aus for US$4. From a Landrover parts sealer. Price on the web site seems a bit steep since all it is is a brass nut.

Thanks for the assurance, Bill. Im glad to here it. Expereinced first hand what can happen when the plastic plug's head snaps off and you've got threads and a hole there. So, I am a big fan of the replacement plug. It was just my understanding that it was designed as the weakpoint in the system to expell excessive amounts of pressure should that scenario be encountered, and replacing that with one that won't release made me ponder.

Hi Zeus here in the UK make them as well.

Make sure you get the right thread if you go down the plumbers merchant, some are tapered! you will also have to find a way of sealing the threads, which is why all the purpose made ones have O rings, Not sure I would trust PTFE tape with my engine.

Good point - you do not want a plumbing NPTF (tapered) pipe plug. Threads in radiator are a straight thread.
