I have a dumb question. Every now and then I get someone asking for a pic of the back of my truck which I have referred to as a "sticker pig pen" (and IT IS!!). I'm sure all requests are just for something to laugh at - which is fine by me, I laugh at the back of it more than anyone else. It is constant source of amusement to me.

I don't mean to sound insulting, but I have been advised to keep license plates out of pics. That is another reason that I have not posted pics of the back. Obviously, I'm not concerned about revealing tag to anyone who posts regularly here - if we don't know each other personally, we all know several people who do know who we are posting to.

As I was advised, it is just not a good idea since this board is open to the public and we should not reveal certain info. That does make sense to me. Does anyone know how to remove tag from pics?

Thanks in advance, Jamie

I use adobe photodeluxe bussiness edition 1.0 and on the advanced tab there is a tab for 'clone' click it and you get a little circle that will move around your pic with the mouse movement. Pic a spot with the color you want to cover whatever you want to cover and click, then move to the part you want to cover and click and the new color replaces the origanal color.I'm sure this don't make a lick of sense, as I am 'discription defecent' (and I don't spel good either):-) If you don't have this software then this is a waste of your reading....I think I can e-mail it to ya, never tried to e-mail some before, but what the heck.
BTW, I just leave my plate in the pic's, never really understood why people take 'em out.
If this makes any sense and you have any questions, feel free to ask

(1) Jamie, pretty much any image-editing software including MS Paint will allow you to replace an area's color with another. Just pick a color close to the background of your license plate and click away with a small "brush" until the tag is unreadable.

(2) As to why to blur them, tags are connected to registered address which is usually (not always) a residence. Obviously very few people who are "regulars" here would be a problem, but Jamie and I were talking via email about the increased familiarity one feels with people on DiscoWeb. We both agreed that just because someone posts here doesn't make 'em a nice person. I am of the opinion that if you are concerned about that sort of thing, then wipe out plates in pics. If not, that's fine...but expect to see my truck outside your house one night :-)

Cool, come on over, the more the marrier. I guess I'll just have to be more cautious about who I flame here on disco web. ;-)

Isn't license plate/tag lookup not available to normal citizens (I know anyone can have inside buddies though).

Cheers, Brian

You're right -- it's really only law enforcement that can look up plates.

That said, you're also right -- anyone can have inside buddies, and it's amazing what $25 can do to get information.

I don't want to sound alarmist, I just wanted to convey to Jamie that blocking license # would be a good idea if she were hesitant to provide other information to people she chats with online via DiscoWeb or email.

As I said before, to each their own -- I don't particularly care who sees my license plate because I'm involved in law enforcement and let's just say that a stalker would have an, ahem, interesting greeting from me.

:-)

in texas (at least in the near past), all you had to do was fill out an application with the state, pay a small fee, certify that you were asking for the registration information because of a "hit and run" or some other "offense" and then wait by the mail box. pretty easy...

I don't really care if anyone sees my plate, either. I can go through the trouble of blotting it out, but it's just a matter of time before somebody else on a wheeling trip snaps a pic of my truck and posts it somewhere with the tag in place, so why bother. If someone really wants to find you, they will, regardless of what you do.

Stalker would have very many unpleasant greetings here too. Just driving down my street would scare them. All law enforcement from different agencies and all work different shifts. So several are always around and nobody misses anything around here. An unfamiliar car, pedestrian, etc will be nicely stopped just to see if they "need any assistance". You know, maybe they're lost? Sometimes it seems that we have as many dogs as people. Yikes, I'd hate to be someone coming into our neighborhood with bad motives! Whoever tried that would surely have a no good very bad day!

Hey Brian, "the more the marrier". Does that mean you are one of those guys with several wives??
