Well I did a little research, and here is what I came up with. First off, the trans in the D2 will allow the torque converter to lock up in all gears, whereas the D1 was only allowed to lock in 3rd or 4th. This is why the hesitation feeling is felt while, say, getting on the interstate and trying to get the big pig moving. The converter is locking to give more power. Theoretically, I dont think this should be felt, but is a Rover, so what do you expect? Second, the speed sensor is located on the ABS module behind the power steering/ACE reserviors. I believe it is the round gray plug. I took some electrical cleaner and cleaned the plugs and receptacles and all be damned if she did not shift a ton better. Still a slight lug can be felt as before, but I might try to unplug the sensor and drive around without it. I hope this helps some of you who asked about this in a previous post.

Is this related to that hesitating loud clunky feeling that is sometimes felt (and) heard when shifting from forward to reverse (and vice versa)?
