4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers is on Brookpark Rd, off the Tiedeman Rd exit, south of 480.

Summit Racing in Akron, 76 East to Tallmadge Rd and it's right there.

There is a Tractor Supply or somesuch in Chardon that supposedly carries them.

thanks, we actually did go to tractor supply in Chardon. There they had 48" for $36, but we were looking for 60", so they said they'll try to order it, since they do not have it in their catalogs :-(

if they can't get it, we'll try other shops that you mentioned :-)

Thanks again.

you are both not far from us :-) I would love to get together sometime , but our rangie is not yet fully ready to do some serious off-roading (we do not have any protection gear yet :-( )

today I found a good "trail" on pipeline and had some fun testing it ;) on Sunday we'll go there and fully test some capabilities of our rangie and the trail itself :-)

Danno,

the pipeline is near Chesterland ... and there is actually a nice high voltage area where some ppl are off-roading.

well, this Sunday I won't be able to make any plans for sure. My sister has a birthday which is going to be celebrated on Saturday and Sunday, so it's going to be crazy
And since this pipeline is like 5 minutes from our house, we can just get out for an hour or so to test it.

But if we like it, the next weekend probably can get together :-) Though with my new work it's hard to tell week in a advance.

P.s. with me it's probably not going to be very interesting - I'm totally novice, though my dad is much above average and he is teaching me ;)

My Disco is very mild too, but is parked right now - hope to have it rolling again shortly.

I have to ask again: is this private property, and if so do you have permission to be on it?

Danno, yep it's the exhaust - it'll be fixed Thursday AM.

And the rotoflex, I need to get this non-roto shaft on asap. Hopefully it'll snow so I can lay in the driveway and work on it.

Joe: well, there this thing ... there like a new road where there are going to be new houses (no houses yet, just properties for sale). Then from this road there goes some "dirt" (pretty good one) road without any sings of "no tresspasing" or anything. This road just like 100 meters long and leads to pipeline, which is like area of about 25 meters wide and probably 1 km long (I got this from terraserver) without real private properties. And there is a forest to both sides of it, which is not private as well (as far as I can tell). The park starts about few kilometers to one of the sides, so it's not a park also. By the way, there is actually seems like a nice lake in the middle of that forest ... if we can get in there ... :-)

Also, one guy told my dad that there is some area (paid area) where you can ride off-road. It's about 1.5 hours from Cleveland. We might go there as well ... anybody knows what's this place ? it's in the city that starts with "B" or something ;)

p.s. sorry, can not explain everything very well b/c not good with English :-(

Oh c'mon its not that bad :-)
Just stop using meters, use yards, hehe..

You can order 60" from lots of places, including 4wheelparts.com - just shop around weekends and you can catch free shipping specials.

Sergei: yeah, found 60" in a lot of places, but shipping kills the deal ... I'll see if I can find free shipping :-)

recieved a call today from Tractor supply, they actually want to charge us $15 shipping, so that they can bring it to the store :/ ... never seen such a cheap store ... and HL-605 costs $79 there ...

I'll try to call other stores, see if they got it :-)

Anton, Bear Creek is south of Canton but that is ATV and motorcycles, not 4x4. Wellsville is less than 2 hrs away and it is free and is easily the best wheeling around. Aside from that, you need to go to PA or southern Ohio for legal 4-wheeling.

I would be very suspect of that land you mention. I bet if you went to the Geauga County courthouse and asked to see plats of that area, you will find the land is either 1) privately owned with an easement for the pipeline or 2) private w/ some public land like Geauga County parks. There simply is no legal public land to ride on anywhere near Cleveland. Unless you can absolutely confirm it is legal, I would not trespass.

Danno, centering peg is my hangup. Removed the DS last night or the night before but no luck on the peg (and I read the archives on it). I'm waiting for a slide hammer to be returned to the auto parts store so I can rent it. My homebrew slide hammer didn't work, even after copious application of heat. I will try some other tricks Thurs PM if the slide hammer isn't returned Thurs. That, and I had to wait until the weather turned crappy......:-(

Anton, my only thing is make sure you are legal when going on someone else's land. If it is private, seek permission - you can find the owner(s) at the county courthouse by lookin at plat maps. I had a gun pointed at my head once for trespassing, I learned a lesson I'l never forget.

Danno,

going where ? :-)

to that pipeline on Sunday for a little bit

tomorrow is my day off (finally some free day ;) ) . I spotted some more lands and will go there to "investigate" ;)

Joe: does courthouse gives these plat maps without a problem ? ... and that's what they just called ... plat maps?

Thanks

Anton, yes they do and that is the correct name - the maps and land ownership are public records and readily available (assuming the person you talk to wants to do any work that day).

well, went to the court house... yeah, everything is private ... I don't get it, why would anybody need a land surrounded by other lands ;(

they actually have those maps there on computers, why would not they just put it up on the internet :-(

also went to check up on that pipeline, and there was some service van ... so, don't know if we should go there again.

probably going to check out trail under high-voltage, since by the ground it seems that there are a lot of 4x4 driving there.

by the way, like always our plans have changed ... we are going to Wellsville tomorrow for a few hours... though it probably would not be fun to me, since my dad's "buddies" told that he should not give me a wheel since wellsville is too steep :-( well, we'll see what happens :-)

Wellsville is a blast! There are some nasty trails there, but much is doable in a Rover. The hills are a riot if you're into that. Lots of offcamber, and probably a lot of mud.

Have a good time. Take your truck - if it gets bad, park and watch.:-)

well ... I can't explain it in words :-) ... it was great there :-) ... we drove for two hours, most of the time I drove ... it was just plain and simple fun ... actually I managed to get into a big hole ones and got stuck, that's where we needed hi-lift, shovel and rope ... and that's where we lost our exhaust ;( ... but that's the only time we got stuck ... Rangie handles itself very well ...

however on the way back about 70 miles to home Rangie just died ... It's most probably the fuel pump (or something does not let the fuel to come) ... just towed the car rest of the way ...

so now we need to get a new exhaust and fix the car itself ... and after that go there again ! :-) ... hope you guys will join us :-) ... it's probably much more fun when there is more than one car ... and we'll have to go there for a whole day :-)

Wellsville is not a place you go alone. We have had serious breakdowns back in there: extraction is usually a PITA, but is your only choice. If you leave your truck, it will get stripped and burned very quickly.

The last several times I've gone, we've had a vehicle break down each time - broken front diff, broken front pinion, ripped brakelines off, rollovers............ We've pulled vehicles w/ no 4WD out via the hills in the snow, that sucked.

I have numerous pix from there: http://home.4x4wire.com/joe/trails/

Post up or email when you want to go again - my email is in my profile. Danno may want to go, and I have some other friends who always want to go.

Glad you enjoyed it!

by the way, anybody know a place in Cleveland where we can get an exhaust for cheap ?

Wellsville draws out the worst of Appalachia. There was also a theft ring using it as a place to strip and burn vehicles.

I just had my Disco exhaust done at Star on Mayfield in South Euclid. You won't find many cheap places for Rovers.

Well, I heard there are some places that just make custom exhaust systems ... meaning that they just curve the thing itself for the shape that you need ... we don't need anything fancy , just very simple one

Joe: Actually exhaust does not seem that expensive, my dad found a place for $109 ... we are taking it there tomorrow ... but it's not genuine rover exhaust ... but we do not really care about that

well ... a little summary : 3 hours of driving there and 3 hours of getting out of very bad situation ; )))

it was much better than last time (mainly b/c we did not have a time restraint)

well, basically we "drove" down that big hill that you see just as soon as you enter the trails ...we drove to the river, around there and on the river ... drove to some other places ... and near the river we got stuck very bad ... there is like very steep hill, first we tried to go around, but then decided to go onto it ... however, it turned out to be very steep ... we tried to get our car up there with using hi-jack ... but even though we did not even get all four wheels on the hill itself, our car started to turn over (like front wheels lost the ground) ... and backing out of there was real pain in a @ss ;( ... bumped door and fender :-( ... though not very bad :-) ... spent 3 hours over there ... really need to get a winch :-) ...

well, here is some photo report :

http://www.rachitskiy.com/photo/index.php?display=wellsville-27.11.03/&page=1&no root=1

though, you can never show anything on pictures as it was in real life :-(

p.s. hope somebody will come with us next time ... much more fun to be with some other car :-) ... also we saw one red jeep there and some white car ... looked like suzuki, or old little land cruiser, though not sure.

Cool.:-)

If you were stuck in the creekbed by that burned out truck, there are several other places to get out of the creekbed nearby - some are very easy.

I'd like to go sometime soon, so let me know when you're going back.

Joe: yeah, there was a burned truck right there :-) ... we were sitting like one foot from that truck :-) ... if that big tree would not grow in the middle of the road, we would get out from there just fine ... but we had to somehow omit the tree ... :-(

when we get out to that intersection I ran ahead and saw that if you turn right (coming up from river) - there is a very easy road ... and since it was getting dark and we were almost out of gas, we went that way :-)
