Took the Discovery on its off-road maiden voyage. I traveled with some friends and their old Willy's and did three trails Metberry, Longwater, and Hackett here in Colorado. The Discovery is completely stock at this point, and never once needed to be winched. I was totally impressed. One of the Willy's in our group rolled while trying to set up for a photo opportunity. It was a perfect show car Willy. He was mad to say the least.

Jeremy,

That's great picture with all that scenery in the background. How high up in the mountains where you?

I believe all three trails start at about 7,000 ft and climb up to a little over 9,000 ft. It was a beautiful day with temperatures in the 60's. It was my first time, and I will definitely be back!

Glenn,

Maiden *voyage*, eh?

Karen, who refuses to make the obvious tasteless joke that's just layin' there.....I'm sure I can count on someone else? LOL....

Karen, I thought about 3 people that would/might comment on that, and you were one of them... hehehe

Obviously, I meant the first time I took my (according to Kent from another thread "white-whale") Disco out wheeling.

No offense to the photographer, but the lighting in the photo of the rolled Willys looks like stage lighting. You know...like a set.

Diesel, I am not a professional photographer. :)

Diesel,

Try telling the driver it's just a set. Here's another angle of the incident.

yeah, it's definately an afternoon ruining experience. Especially when just trying for a photo opp ... Did it just tip over on it's side, or did he get more roll action/damage to the top as well?

Glad you enjoyed yourself on your first run with your Disco - It just doesn't get much prettier out there around/in the Colorado mountains.

Kim :)

Why do those pics seem so familiar....

He simply tipped over. Crushed his fender and windshield since the roll bar is actually on the inside of the Jeep. Lost an entire tank full of gas too... All the loose objects in the vehcile fell on top of him including the passenger seat. If you look at the first picture, you can see objects poking through the soft top.

I would be pissed about the whole thing too even if it weren't just a photo op. When he gets that fender and windshield fixed will he also put the bolts in for the passenger seat?

Diesel (being a smart ass...I am sure I'll get mine soon enough.)

Jeremy,
There are a few of us here in Teller and El Paso county that get out to Hackett/Longwater and such on a regular basis. If you would like to go with some Rovers that don't tip so easy let me know.:)
