I have a 99 disco II. I need to change the belt on the engine. I was wondering what the torque spec was for the belt-tensioner-pulley. I have the factory service manual(FSM) and torque specs are not covered in the manual. So, does anyone know how many lb/ft to tighten to.

Thanx for responding. This board has been of MUCH help to a newbie disco owner. MUCH THANX

In my service manual it as every torque spec under the sun. Are you sure it doesn't have that?

Aux drive belt tensioner: 45 Nm (33 lbf.ft)
(page 06-2)

Thanx Dean.

I do not have my FSM book in front of me, studying in a Library, so I can't check the page you listed. I will check the section you mentioned as soon as I get home. At any rate, thanx for the torque spec's.

You were right, 33lbf.ft. I need to become more acquainted with the layout of the FSM. I looked in the table of contents (TOC) for the directions to remove the belt (which took forever to find). Upon finding the directions there was no reference to any section for torque specs. I think I was too frustrated at that point to thoroughly double-check the TOC. I did not even remember the section devoted to torque specifications. MY Fault.

I am curious. Most books in the "States" put the TOC in aplhabetical order. Is alphabetical order the "norm" outside of the States? Just curious. :-)
