Just got a set of used OE 16" wheels without center caps. Are they really needed or are they necessary to protect the hubs from dirt/mud and other crud? TIA |

I think the alloys look better with the center caps, and also keep that space from filling up with mud. If you want new ones you can get them from atlanticbritish.com they cost around $4 each |

I think you've solved my problem. I'll try cheap/tacky by covering up the holes with duct tape when mudding and remove them when onroad. |

One of my caps fell off, and in the few weeks before I replaced it (and all the others, and glued them on) the part of the wheel hub that guards the hub nut started to rust. I'd leave 'em on just to keep the majority of the water out. |
