Heya everyone,
No Rover Content but I'd Appreciate any knowledgeable help on 02 sensor theory and operation.
Heya everyone,
I have an Audi 4000 turbo quattor (FS BTW) that is exibiting some odd behavior. I have an O2 sensor meter connected that oscilates around stoich. when driving. Problem is, lately its VERY intermittents. I have verified its not my meter thats the problem as when its blank the car runs VERY rich and the WGFV runs all the time trying to make the car even richer. It seems the ECU thinks the car is running lean. Now during some underhood investigation I discovered that while moving around the O2 Sensor wires the WGFV would suddently start cycling on and off like it should at idle. ANd the car would lean out a little, the revs would jump, the rich smoke would stop pouring out the exhaust, and inside the cabin the sensor would start showing the proper display of the O2 sensor doing its job. IE...varying voltage from like .2 - .8 volts or whatever the range is. Hop in for a drive, everything is fine, untill the next time I start the car. Now I cant get it to work right for longer than a minute or so.
Is it possible its a Bad O2 sensor (only has 30k miles but I could have ruined it running rich at times) Or is my wiring the suspect. Wiring seems fine but I'm considering changing it all out for the O2 sensor. Also, if I have a bad Ground Strap from Engien to Chassis could this cause the O2 sensor to read incorrectly? Just curious. Car runs but runs horrible when the ECU is getting the bad signal from the 02 sens.

Thanks
Todd
