My wife and I just picked up a new 03 DII SE and love it.

However, I hate those freakin' 18" wheels. The dealer wouldn't swap out a set of 16's so for now I'm stuck with them. Is there ANYWHERE that sells black steal wheels for a DII? I can't find anything on them.

Secondly, what's the gearing in this thing? I thought I read somewhere 3.73?

Man - I like this guy already!

Yes - I think Tire Rack sells some wheels that will work, but I will let somone with experience talk.

The gearing is a little on the high side. You can swap out for 4.11's from Great Basin Rovers (www.greatbasinrovers.com). Call Bill though 'cuz he is much more helpful than his site is. Might as well put in some TT's and Maxidrive axles whilst you are in there. If I lost you on this just call Bill Davis and he will explain it all...

I agree get rid of the 18's. I would check with LR about voiding out your warrantee before I messed with the gearing. Maybe someone else knows about this for sure.

Good deal - stock gearing is 3:54 - you can probably live with that for awhile unless you got to some pretty big tires (well, big for a Disco anyway :-) )

You'll also see sets of D2 steel wheels for sale here every so often in the classifieds. Gulf Coast Rovers and others also have them.

As long as your nice to your dealer - they'll usually cover most things, even if the truck is modded. It pays to make build a working relationship with them while you're under warranty. As usual there are some exceptions to that rule at certain dealerships, but I think you'll find most will work with you unless a mod has very definitely caused a component failure down the line.

Good luck

Bill

Thanks for the quick replies.

Yea, I'm going to hold off on re-gearing for a while...wait til I put at least a thousand miles on it...

I'm thinking of going 245/75's...maybe 265's and new OME springs/shocks. 3.54's should be alright with those.

I just emailed Gulf Coast, they only have wheels for DI's.

I'm going to try tire rack next.

Any other suggestions?

Atlantic British was the only place I could find a set when I got mine. Not cheap, however.
