Problem: 95 D1 with 4.5" lift, RTE arms f/r, rear rte spacer and Vibes: Solution: purchased Woods front driveshaft with one CV. Still have vibes. Just to be sure, I should have it with the CV on the T-Case end right? I am assuming I should have bought the one with CVs on both ends, but as its $~600, it will be awhile. I've driven it in H-Locked w/o a front shaft and no vibes, so its the front d-shaft. Thoughts? |

I thought John had been recommending a double/double shaft for anything lifted over 3 inches. Anyway, I had the same problem as my RTE lift expanded to 4 inches. Step one was to take the shaft to a good drive shaft shop and get it ballanced properly. (I love my Tom Woods shafts, but neither were really well balanced when I got them.) Ultimately I sent my double cardon shaft back to Tom Woods and they rebuilt it into a double/double. They shipped it back to me within a week for under $200. Definate improvement, but not total resolution. Maybe just too much spinning mass. |

Oh Yeah. For everything you ever wanted to know about shafts, angles etc, check out the tech section of Tom Woods web page. www.4xshaft.com

Roger, I just finished installing DC driveshafts fron & rear from Tom Woods. Still had a slight vib in the rear, I took the rear off, and found that the factory bolts going through the adaptor actually slightly came through the adaptor plate, making the driveshaft flange not seat on the adaptor plate 'exactly flat'. I ground the extra surface area off of the bolt/nut, and the vib's went away. Though I do not have a 4 inch lift (i'm at 3-3.5 inches total), you might take a look just for good measure. john |
