after installing heavy duty springs the rover is higher on the passenger side. what have i done wrong. i put the springs that were laballed passenger and driver from the box onto the approiate sides. but did notice that the longer of the two rear springs went onto the passenger side. should i have put that spring on the driver side.

Yeah, the longer springs go on the DS.

I would recommend a matched set. But I guess it's too late for that.

When I did mine, they weren't labeled "passenger" and "driver" - they were labled "left" and "right". But that labeling is for UK vehicles, i.e. steering on the right. For a US vehicles, you have to swap them. The taller spring goes on the drivers side for reason that when the driver is the only one in the vehicle, it sits level...or that's what I was told at least.

o.k. i guess i will be wrenching sometime in the future. that is waht i thought when i was putting them in. but that is water under the bridge. what is a matched set? and are there any benifits to adding spacers? with the weight of the winch and front bumper it is lower than the rear.

If you got a matched set that was for the front and rear (i.e. both were heavy duty), they should have been matched so the front is not lower than the rear. There should have been 2 different part numbers on each set of shocks and springs. You may have put the back on the front and vice versa.

If you know what part number you put where, go to these pages to check and see if you got them right:

http://www.expeditionexchange.com/ome/indexshocks.htm
http://www.expeditionexchange.com/ome/indexsprings.htm

About half way down on each page are the charts.

Actually Micky dee, a matched set is when the vender is opening the springs and selling two lefts to one person and the two rights to the other. That way, both left and right sides of the truck sit level.

Expedition Exchange is the only dealer I know of that does this great service.

I've got a set of OME on my wrangler. When I first installed them I was told that the rear pasenger side would sit slightly higher than the driver side b/c of the increased compression on that side of the vehicle under accelaration. Also, the front driver side would also sit slightly higher than the passenger side to account for the constant added weight of the driver.

I installed the springs about 8 months ago and the jeep has since settled.

Hope that helps, I don't know whether or not that theory differs for Land Rovers.

I installed OME on my D1 and it sits perfectly level. Thanks Nathan!

Now I wonder, who gets the "rights" and who gets the "lefts?" They are nearly 1/2" different :-)
