Anyone have a source for engine kits, specifically for the lower end, ie, main bearings, gaskets, Cams, ect? Why have one worm when you have already opened the can!

www.rpiV8.com or www.aluminumV8.com. If you have the 3.9 I would recommend RPI's "mains studs kit" which is basically a set of ARP studs that fill the entire bolt hole of the main cap and also allow higher torquing. The stock bolts are thin and only fill the hole it at a tapered point just at the bolt head, so you get inherent weakness.

Although RPi has lots of good info., and the owner did call me all the way from England to explain a few things, the www.aluminumv8.com (D&D Fabrications)site is good also. Plus he's in Michigan, been rebuilding Rover/Buick motors for years, knows what he's talking about and his prices are good.

Regarding replacing bolts with studs on the main caps - The fact is that to PROPERLY rebuild the engine, you would need to line bore/hone the block if you go switching between bolts and studs. The dynamics of each fastener is different when they are torqued down and the main caps will not wind up in the same place. Failure to do so if you switch from bolts to studs can lead to catastrophic or premature failure of the main bearing and crank.
The dividing line is usually whether or not you are going to be running the engine around 5000k and higher, or putting on a supercharger, turbo or ?. The stock Rover engine ought to stay with bolts. You can go to studs, but you need to line bore/hone. If RPI has that on their website, fine...but I don't think they do.
You CAN swap studs and bolts in the heads with no ill effect.

FYI
