just wanted to find out for him, if he would be ablel to safely just upgrade the springs now?

YES,
Absolutely. As long as hes not putting on extra LONG springs he's fine. But OME springs of 1-2" lift should be fine. At some point he MAY want to consider either extending the rear shocks an inch or two or moving to a longer rear shock. IF the does this have him check his brakes line length uner full extension and make sure the springs aren't unseating from the perches.

i had Bilsteins w/OME HD fronts and MD rears. it rides pretty well even with the sway bars off.
