The steering box on my '87 RRC is leaking (big surprise right!?!). I know I can get a re-build kit for the box, but my mechanic says I should get a re-built box instead as the leak will just come back. What is the concensus out there? and if I have to get a new box, what would be a good place (aka cheap). |

Depends on your skill/ meticulousness/ determination.... A rebuilt box is a rebuilt box, whether you do it or they do it.... If you are confident in your abilities, rebuild it yourself. Maybe, you might need to do it twice to get it right. So, you have to consider the cost of multiple tries, plus your time, against just buying the box right off the bat. As to where, shop around a lot of the links off of this board... Good luck... -L |

The re-built box I can get is claimed to have the factory imperfection machined out of it, so it won't leak in the future. |

I would rebuild the box but if you want a quick fix and you do not have an aversion to "voodoo juice" give Lucas Oil powersteering stop oil leak a try. I've added about 10oz of this to my box and the leak is gone. |
