I have a 1999 D1, and about a couple of weeks ago the visor area (1 foot by 3 foot area) was flooded/soaked after a heavy rain. I took it immediately to the LR dealer, they had their "water doctors" diagnosis it (as well as a minor tailgate leak, which they fixed), and concluded it was coming through the aftermarket sunroof (that doesn't have drains). I have owned this vehicle for one year, and was not aware that the sunroof was aftermarket. Basically they didn't fix my problem...I have another appointment at a different LR dealer to see if they can go a little deeper, and actually fix the problem. This is very bad, because the driver side visor area gets fully soaked every time it rains now. Any help would be immensely appreciated. Thanks in advance, Nick Macris.

Also check your windshield seals. I had a leak where the corner of the headliner above the driver's side visor would get wet. I don't have sunroofs - it was a poor windshield seal. If it is your sunroof, then you just have to get it sealed up properly. You said this first happened a couple weeks ago - have you weathered storms before with no problem, or was a couple weeks ago the first rain you ever encountered with this Disco? If the leak just started and you have no drains to get plugged, then some seal obviously went bad and the problem should be pretty easy to source & fixed.

Nick heres an easy way to check to see if the Windshield is sealed. Go threw a car wash with a dryer at the end. Go real slow when your exiting threw the dryer when the wind from the dryier starts to hit windshield feel around for air coming in. Aftermarket sunroofs are hit and miss it depends on how good the installer was that put it in. My family has a glass business and we use to get a lot of sunroofs in that leaked. We ended up just sealing most of the aftermarket sunroofs because they never stoped leaking.

Before I would go to a LR dealer about a windshield or sunroof leak, I would go to a glass installer..... It would have to be cheaper for them to look at it.

In most sunroofs, there are only two ways to leak into the cabin. The first is between the rubber seal and glass. If the glass is cocked or the rubber seal is old/torn/weathered it will leak. Another area that's a possible source is where the actual sunroof sits on the roof of the Disco, if there is a gap between the sunroof and the sunroof assembly.

Both of these you should be able to identify. If the headliner is soaked as much as you say, then get a cup of water, and pour it into areas that you suspect are leaking, if the the water disappears, then you know its going into the cabin. Use little amounts, don't flood the entire thing, you just want to see if the water sits up there, or disappears along a seal or seam.

Thanks to all so far for the very quick responses...I have weathered some severe rain with my Disco in the last year I've owned it and never had any problems up until this point. The problem just started a couple of weeks ago. I'll try some of what's been suggested thus far. Regards, Nick.
