driving in rain the other day... and all of a sudden my wiper blade collapses dangling off the wiper arm... damn.
as you 89 owners know... wiper arm's little pin linkage to the blade is just an odd ball design very weak and when it's old and worn, it wobbles and skips instead of wipping... hate it when they do that. so i just bought a 93 wiper arm to see if it fits. obviously didn't plug and play... the motor stud where the arm is attached is different on the 89's... damn... again. i guess 90~ wiper arms are secured w/ a locking nut instead of socket clipping type like the 89's.
ok... so i busted out the dremel and grinded off the hinge pins to swap out the wiper arm's mounting sockets... dunno if there's an easier way of converting the stud part instead... but this was pretty easy too. anyways, problem was to get the same sized fastening parts... when in doubt... mcmaster.com... LOL
92360A130 - Alloy Stl Self Locking Button Head Cap Screw 6-32 Thread, 1/4" Length

91125A446 - 18-8 Stainless Steel hreaded Round Standoffs 1/4" D, 5/8" Length, 6-32 Screw Size

perfect fit...
now i have a sturdy wiper arm w/ the hooked tip... silblade time...
now i wish it would rain again... LOL

Way to go on the home-mod, Han. I love it when a plan works out!

good for you rob... dunno what the previous owners did to mine... but it had some plastic pepboys POS wiper blade and the little pin was very loose.
