Was just told that my '99 D2 was declared a total loss. The repair shop estimated repairs of $19.5k. (my wife and I and our 2 daughters walked away with minor bumps and bruises, a 19 yr old driving a suburban t-boned us) Now what, If you had a clean slate and the $$ what would you buy? Drove a 2003, wow what a difference in braking and acceleration. But, I'm partial to my '99. Help

2004 model has CDL already installed. Of course the price is steep.

Or go buy and older Disco and upgrade with the 4.6 engine and upgrade brakes....

I'm sorry to read this post, but glad to hear that you walked away with your lives. I personally would love to go for a 2004, just for the CDL being back, it will be the last year of the real Disco. Good luck to ya.. RS

My opinion
Part it out
Get a low milage '00 or '01 and add aftermarket CDL kit.
Do all the upgrades that you wished you did to the last one, but didnt have time, or $$$.
Get 2 sets of tires,
upgrade engine and brakes.
Dont blame the guy cuz he was 19, blame him becasue he is a window licking moron.
Nice to see your all ok. Did you add any side protection?

Rick:

First off...thr insurance company wants way too much $$ for me to keep the wrecked rover and part it out. Second, no we did not have any extra side protection. But, even tho the rover took a beating, the passenger compartment was never comprimised, in other words the doors and beam took a beating and then the roll damaged the other side, but more damage was done when the fire dept pried out the front windshield to get my wife out. If we were in a neon, I would not be writing this post!!!!

As far as buying an '04, that's some serious $$. What I have looked at was some used '03's with 10/11k miles for high 20's. Still get full warranty and maint service thru 50k miles and don't need to touch the brakes or engines. And for those of you who own a rover '99 thru 02....DON'T DRIVE A NEW ONE>>>TROUBLE.

When I took a test drive I put on the brakes like normal at a light and almost ejected my wife! It looks the same, but it's NOT! my 02 worth!! Lee
