I see all these bad ass disc brake kits on Mountain bikes. Could I put some on my BMX, or will they not work. I am not real sure how they are mounted either.

BJ,

You can mount them, but you have to have a special mount because the brake has to move fore and aft with the wheel position (due to the type of dropout commonly used for BMX frames) or the rotor could rub on the caliper or you won't have full pad contact. There are a few custom guys doing stuff for BMX, but the most similar application that is being made is for single speed MTB's.

Adapting a non disc frame could be involved. I've seen some adapter that mount to standard canti bosses, but I don't know if there is one for 20"/24" wheels. If you welded on a mount, you may have to consider adding a support between the seatstay and chainstay to avoid deformation (or failure) under hard braking.

If you run a front brake, that may be a more simple. You just have to find a fork with a disc brake mount.

Devin
