I have a '97 DI that is in need of a lift. Has anyone used or know of the green monster springs? I will be going with them or OME HD. I want a good 2" lift and will eventually put on bumpers. I will also be putting on new shocks. Thanks for the thoughts. Cheers

I just got my set(UPS bod dropped and ran away. They starting to really hate me for getting all that heavy stuff, i guess).

They came as set of 2 different lengths, so i sppse longer ones will come to rear and shorter - to front. Looks ok, but i didnt install them yet - kind of late at evening to start that project right now. I'll post here how they will behave.

I ordered a 3" set at the beginning of the summer but haven't been able to get shocks yet. I'm still trying to work out which shocks will work best for what I want (ie. good articulation with nice firm road manners) then I'll be able to intall them. I got the 3" medium-duty set up because Andy from NWP mentioned that the Heavy-Duty's were very stiff. I'll let you know how I make out. From what I've seen, everybody that has tried out the Green Monsters is very satisfied. They appear to be very heavy springs. Good luck...

I like mine, good soft feel for the normal good roads, but nice and stiff for off-roading. I might suggest 3" if you have a real u-joint (not the rotoflex) and if you are planning on (ARB?) bumpers - maybe a winch too? I got 2" and put MD OME's and 215/85's (I like the Camel Trophy look, and as of today, I know they do well in snow, they don't glide over the top, they seem to dig in more, hardly any slipping at all.) My original purpose is to make the truck a good off-roader with nice height, but no extra body protection or winch - so far so good.

Well i just finished putting my 3" lift GM on.. Good grief - those things are SERIOUS pain to compress :-) Looks pretty good, feels pretty good on road too, but of course i immideatly hit some odd issues with one of drive shafts, by the looks of it. Will check out what the heck is it tomorrow, but by all means - springs seems to be quite nice ride-wise. They are WAY beefier than stock/OME ones (by some odd reason previous owner got stock fronts, by rears were matched OME). We shall see how well it holds, and what the heck this problem is - its either steering or front shaft gone nuts (rear one is woody already), IMHO..

Hey R.B., did you get 2 full inches out of the MD OMEs? and did you have any problems with the driveshafts? What shocks did you decide to use? I don't want to hijack the thread, but I have the same idea in mind for the truck. Oh, btw, did you have to go with extended brake lines?

R.B.Bailey - well i nailed it all down to wiggling rear flange. I am not sure it should wiggle (i can literally wiggle flange fron side to side, while its bolted to the diff). I am not sure it should behave this way. Basically what happens is that on speed higher than few miles pretty heavy cardan (cardan joint and adapter plate goes to the rear flange, i presume) getting misaligned enough to create funky sound, vibration and literally stops shaft from rotating normally.

I dont see any way to stop it wiggle, nor i am sure it should be way. Its probably rear differential carrier desided to drop dead after my old rotoflex dropped dead and i found it after driving like that for about couple hundred meters..

Any suggestions greatly appretiated.

sergei sounds like you had a cheap bastard lift. the 'stock fronts' were probably rear springs and the rear OME brought it up level. I have RT 2 inch springs in the rear of my classic with the rear springs in the front. I did have to pack the front to bring it up though. I have heard this is a nice cheap lift for a D1 which I believe has heavier rear springs than the RRC. Gordo

I bought the NWP GM 1" lift springs with the 400lb Spring Rate so I could still use the stock length OME shocks and stock brakelines. It raised my sagging Disco a full 3". My original stock springs were sagging 2", so I got a true 1" lift. The ride is a little taught, but sporty. I have taken it on pretty rough trails fully loaded and there has been no sagging. As for vibrations, I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary.
