03 Factory Radio S vs SE

When I connected, everything worked except volume..unamplified sound heard through all speakers..(very low but adjustable with controls) Do I need to put in HK 300 amp to get the volume back (due to "S" only 100 watt) and if so are the connectors the same? or is their diffrence in the 03 amplifier? Could output on SE head unit gone bad? Are the two radios interchangable? I just wanted to have the radio station ID and wx channel on my new 03 (spoiled from my last SE) Searched archives and couldn't find any relating threads.. ..and I know...scrap it all and get aftermarket..but I really like the looks of factory.. Any comments would be helpful...thanks Bob
