Hey guys, I have a 96' Disco with the check engine light on. I had a friend test it with a OBD II scanner and it came up with a error code 430. Does anyone know what this could mean. I think at this point it could be a bad O2 sensor for my cats but that's just my guess. Anyone info would be appreciated. Thanks, DP |

All I know is that 430 is an emissions error code and that the catalitic "threshold" is not up to par. Don't ask me what that means... |

Exactly but what does that mean? Are O2 sensors going or do the cats need replaced? Open your wallet and put the cash in Bank 2?? |

I'm pretty sure 430 is just a bad O2 sensor. my Disco has 420 error code up right now with at same description, except under "Bank 1". I'm pretty sure it's just the O2 sensor... |

Correction. I just talked to Land Rover on the phone about the "Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1 or 2)" problem. They said it was something wrong in the set effeciency standard of the exhaust system. They said to determine what it actually is, you need to go to a shop where they can do diagnostics (or the dealer) and get them to run a diagnostic on the exhaust system. It may have been something as small as a drop of water in the gas. (which is why i always put premium in my 98 D1). Hope this was helpful, Alex |

Alex, Why would the fact that you put premium keep water out of your gas. If you buy premium from a place that does not sell very much premium then your odds of getting bad gas is much higher. Just 2 cents. Lee |
