yes i rode a freinds last weekend on a moderate trail. very nice bike. i like the feel of a steel frame at cruising speed. i rode an M2 for a few years and never had a problem. I ride a Ti Serotta right now and you feel every rock and root in the trail i even went with carbon bars to help out the vibrations I was getting it helped a lil but still not as smooooooth as the M5.

even though i ride my soft most all the time now, you gotta love the simplicity of a hard tail and the way they climb...

thats true, hard tails are simple, and the rake of the frame on the M2 thru M5 s-works also make it a natural climber.

YES! Nothing worse than riding with a guy and his full suspension rig when he looses a piviot bolt or whatever... I'm not a big Specialized fan, however if you are going to go that way anything that is "S-works" is very nice!

Ride On!

I work at River City Bicycles, and we deal primarily with Specialized and Litespeed. If you want to have your cake and eat it too, look at the S-Works FSR Epic. Hardtail climbing with fully-active FSR suspension when you need it. I have been a Trek man my entire life, but I am seriously considering the Epic. Plus, for 2004, they lightened the frame up .5 lbs and gave the shock adjustability, so you can set how much force is required to make the Brain active. True, there will always be room for hardtails, but why ride one when you can have a sub-23lb full-suspension race bike that's hardtail fast? FWIW...

Ride a hardtail if you're sponsored. Otherwise, buy a full suspension.
