Anybody have any ideas about where to install the XM Skyfi unit in a D2? I have seen various brackets for mounting but all I have seen do not have the cup holders. Consol space is very limited. Also, did you stick with the included antenna or go with a glass or roof mount unit? Pics of final install would be greatly appreciated. I may go with the new Commander unit which has a small FM modulated box and a remote screen but if I dont have to spend the extra money and can use my Skyfi from my MG it would be nice. |

Ok, I searched the archives (should have first) and found this set up that Jamil did http://cakeru.image.pbase.com/image/20254344.jpg. Anybody do anything different. Jamil, what did you use for the antenna and where? |

My installer put a bracket out from my ash trey. I lost use, but didn't use it anyway. The unit sits below the ash trey angled toward the drivers side. As for the antenna it was ran out the rear door through the existing port (on the left side of the truck). |

Hill, confused by the "existing port". Are you talking about the hole that has a cap on it at the top of the rear door (for rust proofing I think)? |

There is a hole in rear after the door is open. I was able to run antenna wire under door seal and out of this hole that is in the left hand side of the rear. Hope this helps some. |

I just installed, mine i put it right in front of the shifter where the instructions on how to shift into 4 low are. Just use some good 3m double back tape and its held up well. Put the attenna up right infront of the drivers side roof rack. |

James, how did you run wire to the antenna, or did you drill a hole through the metal. |

Bryan, I tucked in the antenna wire all they way to the rear cargo door. I have the magnetic antenna positioned 3-4 inches behind the rear sunroof so it doesn't get hit when I open it. Be careful not to fray the wire, so me of the panelling is pretty tight. The tape adapter wire is pushed in around the heating unit and the excess is stuffed behind the left ash tray. Jamil |

RAM makes a mount specifically for the Delphi unit. I have mine mounted on the dash directly to the right of the gauge cluster (within sight and easy reach). I have the RAM double ball base mounted to the dash with a 3" RAM arm holding the GARMIN 176C, and directly below it on the 2nd ball mount is the XM unit on another 3" arm. If I remember I'll post pics fo ryou guys tonight. Jason |
