I know of one guy in my area who installed it with a PS reservoir from a BMW. This res is extra deep and has a wire screen filter. He likes it fine and it's very strong. He has a '93RRC and an ARB bumper.

Ive have heard that under full load it will blow the seals in the Disco power steer pump, A past archive was to make a bracket to fit a Saginaw pump, I do not remember the outcome?

I have the Milemarker 9000 lb winch using the stock ps pump and reservoir and used it for 1 season. I haven't had any heat problems using the stock reservoir. I've winched for about 15 minutes continuously with no heat issues. But, if you're looking to improve the output / speed of the winch there are a couple options.

1. Get a higher psi/volume pump. This will require getting a relief valve to lower the pressure after the winch. Also, depending on the pump, you might have to get a smaller motor for the winch. A larger reservoir would probably help out keeping the fluid at the right temp. You could also get an in-line cooler.

2. Get the PTO pump setup. This is the real deal. Great power, line speed control. Having the system isloated from the ps system is a plus. Downsides: costly (PTO, pump, new valve, lines, reservoir).

Northern Tools sells a Hydraulic clutch pump with three different configurations for your need. It basically looks like a very small A/C unit with a double V belt pulley. Basically you would need to switch power to the clutch and winch away. Of course there's the usual headache of installing brackets, res, lines, etc.. But if you got the room.....!

Anyway, if you guys still want to talk to my buddy with the mm winch, shoot me an email and I'll forward to him.

about those PTO pumps - keep in mind that you'll need to do an LT230 swap if you have the B-G x-fer case. They won't work on the BG unit, as I understand.

a MM and the PTO hyrdaulic would be da friggin bomb tho!!!

cheers -
