Saw the recent interchange on cats/EPA-required 8/80 warranty. My 98 with 65K sounds like marbles in a tin can. Pvt garage says they called LR and were told no extended emission warranty... anyone else had experience getting the cats replaced under these conditions? Any experience with the aftermarket, $800 cats from Rovers North vs the $1400 ones from LR? Thanks! |

do the cats still pass emissions? if they don't then you should be able to get them warrantied: http://www.discoweb.org/warranty.htm It's not a land rover warranty, but a federal deal. now, if it still passes emissions, you may have some trouble. if you do go aftermarket, i just picked up a new y-pipe from Nathan at discount rovers for under $500. |

Bits of the cats have broken off....ultimatly the bits will get small enough to escape out of the cat and into the big wide world.....and no noise....happened to me at about the same mileage...hated it at idle esp at traffic lights....still have same cats at 130k....save your money |
