To secure my sand ladders, i attachted 2 short PVC pipes to my rack. The ladders fit over them perfectly, then i use a tie down strap to secure them. |

I recently purchased a dual NATO Jerry Can Holder from Rover Accessories. The holder allows you to mount it in either vertical or horizontal position to your rack. The horizontal mounting gives you the lowest profile. The holder has two (2) lockable latches as well. Hope this helps. Jim Lupinetti |

I use the Trek Outfitters Hi-Lift Jack mounts to attach the Sand Ladders. These work very well, and other people make similar devices. You just need to find an appropriate sized washer to hold the plates on (I have heard that the spare tire mounting plate for a RRC works well). For Jerry cans I have often mounted two in the front of the rack on by putting them on edge. To do this I had one of the cross bars installed between the rails of the roof rails (Original Disco roof rack.) this acts as an additiona hoizontal brace and helps hold the can off ot the roof. It is not an ideal solution and I am looking for something better. I have also mounted them on their sides in the back by installing a temporary plywood floor in the back half orf the rack. A can full of gs hasn't been a problem for me to lift, but everyone is built differently. I would not reccommend trying to put a full jerry can of water up there though. It is just too heavy for a wimp like me to lift by myself. -Reed |

I made a bunch of can holders when I couldn't find suitable ones for myself. I have some singles and doubles left. Here's a link http://www.chrisurquieta.com/gas_can_holders.htm I'll be happy to send specs on these if you want to build them yourself or I'll be happy to send you some of mine. |

I made a set of holders so the cans mount right above the alpine windows (i think thats what they're called). It's a very nice and cool looking setup, but all that wieght on the far outside of the rack makes it feel very top heavy on the freeway. Matt |
