Hi folks,

Has anyone encountered any nasty surprises when replacing their reverse light switch? I have checked fuses, bulbs & finally found no power at switch, so looks like it might be a dud.

Truck is a 94 D1 5 speed.

Thanks in advance,
Ewan

Not quite sure what you're asking, but mine was gone some time ago (chk Ottos site: http://home.halden.net/discovery )

If you think switch is at fault, chk for continuity when engaged. If no continuity, replace.

The wires get hardened and can easily snap, so check the wiring carefully.

At least on LT77 you will have to pull centre console, and drill out the pop rivets to get access from above. I'd replace those pop rivets using rivnuts - makes it easier next time you need access from above for some reason.

Hope this helps!

Many thanks Frode,

The testing & replacement looks quite straightforward. I was worried that there may be breakable bits or small springs/clips that could pop out while extracting the old switch.

Congrats on a very informative site (Ottos) lots of useful stuff.

These are great vehicles but they sure have their own quirks.

Regards
Ewan
