I got up this morning at about 5AM and turned on the TV because I could not fall back asleep. While flipping around I saw this info TV commercial about a device called a Tornado. It said that it save MPG and increased horse power. I was curious has anyone ever heard of or used this thing in a rover?

Someone put lipstick on this dead horse!

Lets be honest though, this topic hasn't come up in at least a few months.

I think a quick search will answer all you ever want to know about this miracle product.

Carl,

I bought a new Ford Ranger back in September of '02. It was going to be my daily driver. I thought it would get about 24 mpg average on a tank of gas. 80% of my commute is highway. I soon found out that at its best, with hardly any city driving, it would get a little over 20 mpg. I saw the Tornado for sale and decided for 80 bucks it couldn't hurt to give it a try. I installed it in conjunction with a K&N filter. I started getting around 23 mpg consistently. Sometimes I get 24 mpg. I don't know that I would try it in a rover though. My friend put in a K&N filter on his '99 Series 2 Disco. He started having trouble with his acceleration. When he took it into the dealer they claimed the K&N filter was causing the problem. So, he took it out and the problems went away. All that's to say that the Tornado worked for a simple pickup truck, but I'd be cautious with a rover. They are more electronic than my truck. I can't see that it would hurt your rover if you wanted to give it a try. Just take it out if it starts acting up. It's up to you.

If it is true why arent the people that invent these things
billionaires, because surely if they worked everyone would buy
one OR the oilcompanies would pay them off!!!!!

If they *really* worked, they'd already be on the vehicles.....

Imagine, being able to improve the mpg of your fleet across the board by a adding a bobble onto it. They'd be slapped on the back for a job-well-done by the gov't if they did....

lol....

tornado

here we go again:-)

they do work in some applications, dyno tests (both independent and not so) have shown that they do. the largest gains have been shown on carburated engines by increasing venturi efficiency. will it solve the poor MPG of a rover?

No chance
