I have a '98 disco and I have been experiencing loud clanking noises when I brake some times. It's not constant, just once in a while. And when i drive slower after breaking, the clunking some times continues. It seems to be coming from the front side of the car, not exactly where from. Has anyone experienced this before? What could it be from?

Wendal My 94 has the same problem, it appears after a while the anti rattle springs loose their tension from brake heat and dont push the pads back and they hang up and rattle. Rovers North sells the needed parts. Good luck,Seth |

Have the same on my 98 as well - yep its's the spring plates - what is happening is that the pads themselves have elongated slots - when the spring plates rust out there is nothing to locate the pads properly - when you brake the pads run up on the slots - this is what makes the clunk. NorthEast British parts should have all the parts in stock - along with probably your local friendly Land Rover dealer |
