While coming home last night and driving a little faster than I probably should have, my 96 Dicso felt like it wasn't getting enough gas or something? Put in a new fuel pump @ 10K ago, and repalaced filter about 1K ago. It is almost like a hiccup. What gives? |

Matt, Sounds like a speed sensor. it sounds like it is choking on something and pass it through? Stalls, gains power, and then stalls out again, and does this for a while. If it is the same thing, it is the speed sensor, and runs about $109.00 at the dealership.

does it still run? is it barely drivable? or what? the problem I had sounds similar. Turned out to be the cam and crank sensors. Getting the crank sensor changed out ended up being spendy... |

I had similar cutting out with my 96. When it happened I would roll to a stop. By luck I opened the gas cap and I guess it "burped". Seems like I have a gas tank ventilation problem. Very predictable. I now drive with the cap loose. If it's tight I eventually cut out. |

Thanks guys. Yes. it still runs, idles and cranks just fine, but when I try to "cruse" on Georgia interstates, I lose power for perhaps 2-3 seconds, and then the motor picks right back up. It has never stalled or quit. I'm going to try the speed sensor because to my knowledge, it has naver been changed. If that doesn't work, I guess a fuel system pressure check will be in order. I probabbly shouldn't push lil' Rover so hard at 190K miles anyway. -Matthew G. |
