It was mentioned on the D-90 board and on Dweb (I think) a few months ago, but i haven't been able to find it again. if i can rememer correctly it was a rover mechanic who was making them. Any ideas

Any competant industrial hose & hydraulic shop in your area can make them. Frankly you're better of with plain 1-wire hydraulic hose (100R1AT) unless you want the "bling" of SS braided Aeroquip.

damn Limeys :-)

I was just laying under my truck, like ya do, and thinking the same thing about my leaky hoses. My oil and transmission cooler lines all need to be retired. I'll check those out, I'm pretty sure I could qualify for a set :-)

i'm just going to get new ones made locally. i want to reroute them so they are better protected by the frame. i figure a few hundred for custom lines.

bill do you know if the ends of the oil cooler lines are a propriatery land rover shape or are they something a local shop will be able to order.

i'd prefer to have new ones, but i gues they can cut the old ones off and braze them the to the new pipes.

Rob - the are referred to as "bumped tube" ends - very well stocked hydraulic shops would have them, but most won't.

I just used hydraulic compression fittings on my new hydraulic hoses and then seated the cut off original LR fittings into those - fast and simple. One day I'll get motivated and redo them with one-piece bumped tube ends, but probably no time soon.

While we are on the subject - I did see that some local Ace Hardware stores will get them made for you - not sure what the price is, but the examples they had in the store where "beefy" (High quality) And I think you can get the SS braided too.

Anyway, lets say we all go out and get our new hoses, what is the proceedure for putting them on? Should I take the old ones off and take them in to get them copied by the maker of the new ones? Should the oil and coolant be drained first? etc, etc, etc...

i'm going to measure and draw it out where i want the bends.

my lines are so rusty i would be afreaid the use a compression fitting. i wil take another look because i discredited this a while back. i do have a good shop near buy and i have no problem with waiting for them to order.
