I have a 99 D1. Occasionally when I hit a bump, I will get humming/static sound out of the rear speakers. I have no idea what could be causing this. I checked the speaker in the read door looking for a bad ground or something obvious. Any help would be appreciated. |

Brian, are you talking about the speakers in the door or on the pilar? One way to isolate which one it is is to unplug them individually then drive around. Do you have an aftermarket radio? If so the bad connection could be in the harness in the dash. Sounds like it could be a bad/loose connection, but it could be at the radio, amp, or speaker. If you have an aftermarket radio, I would say the connection behind that would be my first guess. Matt |

Everything is stock. It seems to be in the rear door. I will start to pull the speakers on at a time and see what's up. Anyone have a wiring diagram? Where is the amp located? Thanks in advance. |

I believe the amp in a D1 is behind the passenger side kick panel. It is under the drivers seat in my D2, but I am pretty sure yours will be in the kick panel in the passenger side footwell. |

it is under the passenger side seat...my advise on this is just replace em. i ripped all my speakers out of my d1, best idea yet. if its your 2 crappy subs, you can simply combine and extend the wires running from the door to a real sub. LR subs suck pretty bad, if you just look at them long enough you'll replace them. i like the look of the empty speakerbox, its great for smuggling..haha |

I'm an installer at Best Buy, and we did a DI the other day and it seems like one amp was in the passenger side and there is an amp in the back door with the two 6" subs. I would unglug them one by one as stated above. See if this helps. |

Thanks Riley. By the way are there any speakers that you would recommend to use to replace the stock pieces? |

Well, they are four inch speakers all the way around. I don't reccommend Kenwood KFC series speakers. I would go with something a little more high quality, like alpine or rockford fosgate series. You won't get a lot of bass response because of the small size of the midwoofers on them. But, the way my boss hooked them up allowed the factory subs to work. I'll ask him how he did it tomorrow. He was able to adjust the level of the output on them too. It atually sounded really good. |
