Does anyone know any IRS recognized charities that accepts auto parts? I was thinking about giving away some D2 parts (they aren’t really selling on ebay or here) and taking the tax deductions. I haven’t called Goodwill or Salvation Army but I’m not sure if they will take these type of donations.

Clay, it's funny you asked that - I have been thinking of doing the same thing. End of the year is approaching quickly. Hopefully someone will know of charities that accept these kinds of things. I have donated emergency supplies to the Red Cross in the past, they warehouse them for use during disasters. Come to think of it, I think they had me drop off supplies at the Salvation Army and had me fill out papers designating they were for warehouse Red Cross supplies. They did not go in the same place as thrift shop type donation. Surely, they are using some rovers when they go in?? Jamie

Jamie and Clay,

My dad works for the Boy Scouts and drives a D2. The Boy Scouts is a Non-Profit, and you can donate the parts, and he can write you both letters stating that you donated. Sounds like a win win situation to me.

try a local thrift store, the two here in Moab take pretty much anything including car parts and give you a tax reciept.
I've dropped off a bunch of Jeep parts over the years.
