today my battery dead because i left the key in stage 2 and some electrical stuff remain on all night. When i got it jumped, everything seemed fine however the SRS airbag light reimained on. it also flickers a little. is this because of an electrical failure or something else?

When you tried to start the car it triggered an SRS fault. I did the exact same thing a couple years ago. Have the computer reset and all will be well.

The way I understand it is the SRS system thinks it doesn't have power. So it's basically just turned off. As far as I know you do need a testbook or some equivelent to reset the SRS. So yes, you should take it to the dealer and have them reset it for a nice fee.

I have accidently flattened my battery a few times with the key & kids leaving rear int on. Each time the srs light needed to be reset. I just went to the dealer for my next oil change,(which was painful, but probly bettr'n skippy lube) and they switched it off N/C. They will also check the bag controller, which has a 'shelflife'. Thats a $400 part, but hey the bags are just weight if they dont work. Normally I steer clear of the dealer. Try an optima battery if its not too late.

Does anyone know how much it will cost to just reset the computer?

The SRS light on my DII was intermittent last year and the dealer replaced the passenger seat belt assembly and supposedly fixed it under warranty.

Now that I have 52,010 miles, it turned on again mysteriously but I am past the 50K warranty so I will have to have someone reset the light - I hope. Too bad I just did the oil/filter change myself.

Phil, I bet it just goes off by itself soon. Mine just did that, I was just leaving on a trip and called the dealer and they said it was to remind me it was time for service. If its not flashing and it still runs fine, just give it some time (and miles).

Thanks Lewis. I'll be patiently waiting. My wife got scared because it went off while she was running errands this weekend.

The dealer will likely charge you a minimum labor charge, typically 1/2 hour of shop rate. About $50 bucks. Nice, huh?
