Hello,

here's what we have now:
http://www.rachitskiy.com/photo/temp/DSC00001.JPG

about 20" from the center of wheel to the center of the side on 31.8" wheels.

is there any point in lifting it ? As I understand it will get just more unstable and it's going to be harder to get onto the steep hills. And don't know if the off-roading going to improve b/c of lifting ... since we yet have to even touch the ground with our axles (or whatever they are called) ... though, we have to be more careful than other lifted trucks ...

so, what's your opinion on this ?

Given the fact that you want to "race" your rover, a lift would probably be bad idea for you.

"it's going to be harder to get onto the steep hills."

Huh?

If you don't understand why or what a lift will do then don't get one.

The point of a lift is to enable the fitment of larger tyres, thus increasing groundclearance.
It seems to me you have reached the max regards tyre size already, so the question isnt do you need a lift, but do you
need to fit larger tyres???
And sometimes (most) you require more than just new springs and shocks!!!!!!

anton, 30" is about average. if you put hevey duty springs on your truck will sit high and because the springs are thicker and stronger you will still lean less in the corners if you use the correct shock.

i think a mild lift of 2" avalible from www.expeditionexchange.com is in your future.

it will give the truck a better stance and more stable than your tired springs. it will allow you to flex more before your tires hit the underside of the wheel well too.

might i suggest you remove the plastic that sits below the front bumper. it is very easy to damage offroad and decreases the approach angle. if you have the owners manual that came with the truck the instructions are in there on how to remove it. or if it's all rusty you can just tear it off like i did.

Ok, have another similar question ...

Right now we have springs (just those simple springs) that are not old ... actually they look pretty new ...

so, is there any point to replace them with OME or Green Monster ?

Thanks

basically the reason to lift is to get on bigger tires and have more clearance.

not sure if you need it or not. time will tell.
