I have an '03 Disco. Today, I spent the entire day offroading with the Texas Rover's group. On the drive back home my traction control light, hill decent warning light, abs light and brake light all came on about half way home. I pulled over on the side of the road and looked at the abs extensions I had put on. I recently installed a 3" Rovertym lift and had to add abs extensions. I noticed that the front driver's side abs line had rubbed against the tire and created a small gash in the line right down to the copper wire. Do you think this could be why all my lights are on and none of those items are working? Would a small gash mess up all those systems like that? If not the gash, then what could it be?

Thanks.

Yes, you probably shorted the sensor and the slabs unit doesn't see it. try repairing the slice, disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes, reconnect it and then see if the slabs unit see's the sensor. if not, you'll need to have the slabs unit reset with testbook at the dealer...

Guys,

Thanks for the help. I took it into the Houston LR dealer this morning. One of the service people was gracious enough to take my rover and look at it. They did a check and the computer said there was a damaged wire. They reset my computer (or whatever it is) and now all the lights are off and everything works. I drove it back to San Antonio from Houston. The lights never came back on. So I'm just going to wrap the damaged abs line in electrical tape and do a better job of tieing it down and keeping it away from the tires.

Richard,

The abs line is one of two wires that run downs to your wheels. The other is your brake fluid line. Just take a look at it and see if there is any sort of gash where the copper in the wire would be exposed. I think what happened on mine was the tire rubbed a hole in the wire, exposing the copper, and then it grounded itself on the rim of my wheel. This caused a warning in the system. That's my guess. Anyway, the LR dealer reset my computer and it's all working now.

Thanks for the info. I checked the lines and all was well. Going to take it to the dealer. (In San Antonio by the way)

Thanks, Richard
