Handcrafted by highly motivated land rover abusers...

Well I just finished my bumper!! You'll notice it tipping forward slightly in the picture thats beacause I have not mounted it properly yet....Still need to design the skid plate and bush gaurd. Let me know what you think!! It cost me about $60 in metal, $50 in grinding discs, $20 for a roll of mig wire and 3-4 days of my valuable time.. Coming soon are the matching rear bumpr and roof rack!! Maybe I'll start a business...

Just to be a little different?? I was a little hesitant but I'm liking it ... I was trying to choose a color and the orange goes with the blue(and it matches those wicked orange discos)...but maybe I'm color blind.. It was either orange, yellow or red I was thinkin... Once the rear bumper and roof rack are done it'll look sweet...but then again I got a Disco with stickers, dents, scratches, and all around abuse..In other words I like mean and ugly! lol...maybe I'll add tiger stripes...lmao

yellow, hmmmmm... That may look good on my car! The design kinda looks like my RTE slimline bumper. I plan on making a rear bumper this summer (when I have the time), so make sure you take some pics when you make the rear. Nice job, now your rover is even more unique.

Phil,

You look like a gator fan!! (Gainesville, FL) I sure wouldn't recommend leaving your rover unattended in Tallahassee, FL!!

Hmmm... I just might have to break out the neon pink spray paint!!! :-) :-)

Mickey Dee the man in Thailand! My orange bumper would work great in Thailand, the orange color acts as an intimidator and you will find jeeps and other 4x4's pulling off the trail out of your way .. I pulled up behind a Hummer on the trail and he got so nervous he drove straight back to the supermarket! heeheehee
I'm gonna polish up the design a little and build a couple for some friends and if all goes well I'll be selling them for around $500...or so.. I only have access to D1's and RRC's so the bumpers won't fit anything else. (that I know of)

if it only costs you that much to make, figure out how much labor you want to charge, and sell both the front and rear and the roof rack.. But if you can prove it trail worthy, and sell it for far less than the others... you'll be way ahead in the game...

Phil,

You asked for opinion; this is mine. Considering what you have invested, I think you did a great job. Yes, I do not like the orange fore I am blind now, but your shaping and sizing is proportional to the front of your D1. IMHO, I would have recessed the winch (integrated) into your plastic grill. Yes, this requires trimming, but it will result in the bumper sticking out a few inches less. Again, I still think you did a great job.

I used the holes from the old bumper with stronger bolts...I also designed it so it will sit on the truck without bolts (ie no up or down strain on the bolts).. I'll get some pics of the bumper off the truck and the whole building process..

its an 8000lb winch... I know it may seem too small but its worked well for me and I always use a snatch block.. I'll upgrade when this one lets me down...

..and yes the bumper does have stealth capabilities...and if I remove the winch the front of the truck becomes like a bow rider for water crossing..lol

Phil,
I'm asking because as mentioned earlier the bumper is fairly forward, and was wondering how much of a rotationary force you eliminated from the mounting process.
As an idea, my custom bumper for my M8274-50 had 2 main requirements:
1. approach angle / tuck in
2. 8 mounting bolts with as much a deep set as much as possible.

I was happy to achieve this without drilling any "new" holes, but using given ones.

Heres a couple pic of us building a bumper for a RRC... We use the bush bar from an old stock RRC bumper... This is a prototype...thats why its BLACK!?!?! lol

As far as the approach angle .. I don't see a problem as the bumper is mounted higher then the stock.. I should also mention the truck has a 2inch bodylift which allowed me to lift the bumper and increase the approach...

I like the Angular look of the bumper. Nice job. Color Scheme combined with the angular looks reminds me of this... :-) I'd like one for my Disco when you go into Production.
