98 DiscoI in good shape. About three months ago I replaced the vaccum lines for the cruise control and must have bumped the resevoir. I thought nothing about it, but now it leaks everyday a puddle about the size of a volleyball. I have good brakes no problem there, the fluid is leaking heavely between the plastic resevoir bottle and the top of the master cylider mechanical valve. It then collects in the knook and crannies of the fenderwells and leaves a puddle when I park over night. 1. Does anyone know how hard it is to rebuild a resevoir, Ive seen kits for like 100.00? 2. What company has the best prices for rebuild kit, I know theres always a company thats got little rover parts cheap? 3. What fluid would be the best to use if I completely flush the whole system? 4. I filled the res. with standard brake fluid, will this hurt the system if I just rebuild and do a quick bleed? Thanks for any help with this problem. |

There are two kits. One rebuilds the resevoir and includes the tank. And one rebuilds the whole master cylinder and resevoir but does not include the resevoir tank itself. I sent you an e-mail. Castrol GTLMA is recomended for fluid. And you should be fine running on regular Dot 3-4 in the meantime. Like you said, just give it a bleed when your done the rebuild. |

Easy fix. I blew the seal out between the resevoir and the cylinder when I replaced the compressed the calipers without taking off the cap. Same symptoms. Just replace the seal. Takes 5 minutes. |
