After replacing my pump in 4/02; I now need another one (fuel pressure is 20psi and I nolonger hear a whirl upon ignition). I remember reading once in the archives that there is an alternative pump that fit Rovers.... I can't find the thread/post but does anyone know of an alternative pump that fits D1s??!!?? |

There's other reasons that would cause those symptoms, corroded connections, fuel pressure regulator, gas tank ventilation. If you're sure it's the fuel pump, I remember a post about a Mazda pump, wired in reverse. I'm no expert, but the above info, acquired on this site and through personal experience, has been useful to me. I'm sure if you play around with the search engine you'll turn up something more. |

How often do you change you fuel filter.....should be done at least every 10k. This will also cause issues with fuel pump. |

Valid point - its near its time as the filter was done when the pump was replaced. I tested the pressure at the fuel rail but I was also going to check the voltage today at the pump to make sure its ok, the thing that makes me suspect the pump is that I don't hear it whirl anymore. Here's a daft Q, where is the regulator?!? Mazda pump eh?!? I will search for that, Thanks!! |

Info that was posted by someone else back in Sept this year. As far as the requlator.... you have an email... Pick up a Carter P74006 from your local parts store. I just did my '96 last weekend with this one and it's just plug and play. Plug and polarity are correct and no messing about. Be careful when you remove the fuel hose from the old pump, mine had a barbed fitting which had stretched the hose too big, so I just replaced it with another piece of fuel hose. I found this link in searching the D-Web archives: http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdetails/fuelpump.htm It helped enormously.
