Ron and I are thinking about getting an '04 5 series & I wanted to know if any of you know of any Discoweb like sites for BMWs? I've found a couple sites, but nothing too great. Makes you really appreciate what an incredible site DWeb is. Of course, we are already thinking about new wheels, a rear seat cover for puppy, etc. We were both amazed at how INexpensive dealership prices were on some genuine accessories. For instance, the front PAIR of seat covers is only $89! and... a quart of synthetic oil is only $4. BMW also includes brakes and wipers under warranty. Gotta love that. I'll still be getting a new Discovery once they get much cheaper (once the redesigned '05 is near release), but maybe this BMW thing will start a whole new obsession.

Check out BMWCCA, I believe you get 10% off at the parts counter. They put out a monthly magazine and have local chapters and such. They also have some rebates for buying a bmw up to $1500 that you get after purchase. http://www.bmwcca.org for more info.

One more decent one:
www.bimmerforums.com
I loved my BMW's They're great cars that you will love to drive.
Unfortunately the prices for some of these models have gone down (ok not really a bad thing) and have gotten into the hands of "Tunerz".
I got sick if all the "Will my car beat a new civic" questions. And "Can I fit 18" wheels?".
One day When I can afford 2 vehicles I'll get another BMW.

sadly, the bimmer was sold two weeks ago.

Congrats Alyssa. Are you going to put a lift and MTRs on it?

The new 5-Series are awesome. It must have been hard for them to improve on a car that was already perfect. Just don't be the typical bimmer driver and baby your car. Drive the hell out of it like I do.

Alyssa, be sure and join the BMW Car Club of America (only about $35/year), autocross it, and take it to a few high-performance driving schools in your area (2 drivers can share a vehicle at most of these events). You'll love it, and learn how to be safe and to use it the way it was designed to be driven. Enjoy!

I figured there would be lots of BMW owners around here.
And Glen, yes there have already been mentions of a lift and a custom designed Rovertym steel bumper/brush bar for it. That front spoiler is AWFUL close to the ground. I've never had anything but a LR, and I guess I'm going to have to start paying attention to things like speed bumps, curbs, potholes, etc. Those little rubber band tires are freaking me out.

What a day to pickup a new bimmer eh Alyssa?

It just started snowing here (around 11:30) and so far, we have about an inch on the ground and I don't see it letting up yet. How is it by you?

Oh, I guess about 10 inches are supposed to fall. There's already 5 on the ground. We pushed off delivery until monday. There's no point in having it just sit there getting dirty. It started snowing around 4:30 this morning (I couldn't sleep thinking about the new car).

I refuse to take my E39 out of the driveway if there is snow on the ground. The 255/40x17 Y rated tires won't let me get very far ;)

Good choice on waiting. It will be worth it.
