Does anyone know of anybody makes heavy duty door seals for a D1? Or if they are even made?
Thanks

suggest you go to a "truck" place and fab some yourself...I'll be doing this voer the Xmas vacation and will post up some pics if you want...at 1$ a yard, it should prove MUCH cheaper than the originals and be a LOT beefier and last longer.

Would they be any better than stock at keeping Pine Barrens swampy water outside where it belongs?

Jaime...
Dunno about those swamps, but going down the highway in either my DD '98 or my TR '92, the top of all 4 doors flap at +60 Km/h. NOt to mention the "interior washing" the trucks get when power washed...so I guess it can't be WORSE, and at that much of a cheaper price (say driver's door seal for 40+ GBP on Net), then it sure is a good thing to at LEAST try...

Something to think about before you purchase. Cut a section of current strip and take it along with you as thickness comparison. Too thick for stripping means you will be slamming the door to get it to shut, meaning door interior parts start to give and break.

Nadim, if your doors are flapping you might just need to adjust them. Move the locking cylinder located on the frame of the car, unscrew and move backwards or forwards. That solved my problem on my drivers door!!!!

Tony,
Did that already, but with 6 years of HEAVY offroading I am certain that the seals have decreased in size/roundness and that is where the "non-perfect" (if there is anything of that sort in LRs) is showing...
I'll do both just to make sure all is fine and dandy!

Use Gummi-Pflege on the door weatherstrips. It protects the rubber from moisture and renews old rubber. I've been using it on my '73 BMW 2002 for 7 years. Works great.

I wish someone would invent something that just stopped the little waves from coming inside when you get in and out while truck is in water.

I promised myself that I'd go in and out the window the next time. I didn't do it though - I looked out the window and decided I'd just end up with mud all over everything from my boots - making an even bigger mess - so I opened the door.

Jamie...
The window trick IS the way to go...just clean your boots prior to entering by using this method:
1. Buttocks on window sill
2. heal your boots on the door's A-frame
3. get right leg up and wipe with window sill
4. put right leg in
5. watch out for your balls
6. repeat 3 & 4 for left leg
After an hour or so, the mud on the sill would have dried and you can simply pluck it off!

That's too funny, gave me a good laugh - I'm sure I'd get a good dunking trying that!! :-) At least I don't have to worry about #5! :-) Ouch!! That must hurt and make it hard to hang on?? :-) :-)

Wondering what do you do with all the water that is in your boots and dripping off of you as you climb in? Whenever I get in just by opening the door, I have to sit on the seat there with each leg up in the air and drain as much as the water I can out of each boot, then I close the door as gently as possible.

Really though, to do that on my truck I'd have to climb up the front bumper, cross the hood, and swing myself in the window sideways.

I think I'll wait for warmer weather to try it :-) :-) Jamie

I have an MPEG of me doing the bumper/fender/A-pillar/window-sill move, but can't find it...true...it was TOO funny, however, at 2,300 (~7,500 feet) in November it would not have been had I dove in for a hippo bath...

Missed ya last weekend on the night run Jamie. You could have practiced that move quite often, sans step 5 of course.

Bruce,

I missed you guys too, there is no way I could have stayed awake all night long WHILE also maintaining sound judgement on the trail.

Anxious to get back out on the trails with you again - if we're lucky maybe FLRC will start scheduling some daytime trail rides?

My gosh, you guys sure came close on that night run! GLAD everyone is ok!! :-) Jamie
