It looks like the new baby Range Rover will be introduced at the Detroit Auto Show in January. It will be called the Range Stormer. Here is a link to the story:

Will they sell one in sand color called the Desert Stormer?

Install high-temp seat heaters and call it the Rump Warmer?

Sell it with studded tires and label it the Range Wormer?

Devise one for the military with even more sophisticated electronics and discreet weaponry and call it the Barn Stormer Warrior?

I could go on, but I need another beer.:-)

I opened that page and thought I had stumbled into a Japanese animtion studio...

But I'm happy to see they are still talking about the CKD 110. Makes sense to me, why not make it available for special order only? No possible way they can loose money on that. (Not like they don't have all the parts crated up and sitting in ware-houses anyway)

Range Stormer? Maybe I've been reading too much history, but all I can think of is Storm Troopers, and their newspaper The Stormer. I wonder how that name will go over in Germany.

Worked for Joy Division didn't it? Maybe people don't remember anymore.

Is it just me or does the Alvis MLV look a little like an H2 cousin?

Yes Erik, that is also how I feel about the Disco 3. It will go out along with the Aviator from that former Ford PAG brand.

I kinda like that name. If I'd buy one, I would only need to add two dots above the "o"...

Here's a better picture:

@Christopher:
I guess that newspaper was called "Der Stürmer", so most germans wouldn't associate 3rd Reich with a car called "Range Stormer". Anyway, a "Stürmer" is as well a designation for a offensive player position at soccer. Not everything in germany is linked with SS and that stuff. But for example, you still can't get licence plates with character combos like "SA", "SS", or "KZ" or "AH", and thats a good thing to keep up.

That pic above from Jens looks like a great street car. Hmmmm maybe a Tourreg or Cayenne class? Concept or not, I like it.

Quite right, Jens. I've spent enough time in Germany and Austria to know that the 3rd Reich is long, long gone.

By the way, here are some photos of what may be a running prototype of the production Range Stormer: http://www.autoweek.com/cat_content.mv?port_code=autoweek&cat_code=carnews&loc_c ode=index&content_code=06847402

Looks like a 38A RR.

Meh. I actually like the concept illustration better...and the idea of LR creating a Toureg and Cayenne thrasher is appealing...

I don't think they are photos. They could be but they look more like renderings to me.

I like it, just so long as they don't loose the Series to Defender concept along with it. (The Disco may be already in the grave.) Rover is, after all, a car company trying to make a living by selling cars in an increasingly competitive market place.

That's great, Jens. Now if they would only name a car the Karl C., then I too would have a cool desktop.

I was surprised how much I like it too....looks like it could be quite capable as well. Unless that is all for show. I can see the body style making it to actuality but not the seats and doors. Who knows...guess we will wait and see.
